One of our favorite holiday traditions is our annual clothing and blanket drive to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. From Nov. 18th to December 21st anyone can drop off their gently used or new clothes or blankets at any Prestige Cleaners location, or give donations directly to your Route Specialist during your pick up or delivery service.
All these donations go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale thrift store, which provides needed funds to support after school programs for kids in the Valley.
While this is a simple way to give back to those in need, there are other equally-simple ways to give back during this time of year. One of the greatest ways to help a local charity you care about is to make a financial contribution, and Arizona rewards taxpayers for doing so.
The state of Arizona allows taxpayers to contribute to qualified nonprofits financially, and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against your tax liability. This allows taxpayers to redirect their tax dollars to causes they find most worthy.
In Arizona taxpayers can take advantage of tax credits for donations to private schools, public and charter schools, qualified charitable organizations and qualified foster care organizations. You can claim a tax credit in one or all of these categories.
Each category has a different total maximum contribution so it’s important to seek the guidance of a qualified tax professional. We are passionate about our local Scottsdale Boys & Girls Club.
