If you’ve already noticed pilling starting to form it’s not too late to do something about it.
The most common solution is using a fabric shaver or defuzzer. They may be electric or hand powered and come in all different shapes and sizes. These devices are designed to carefully remove the pills but they do take some care to master. Too much pressure could cause your fabrics to fall apart even more.
The same warning goes with using a disposable razor to remove pills. A simple disposable razor can do a great job of gently removing balls of fuzz but press down too hard and you can easily put a new hole in your favorite sweater.
Once you’ve removed pills from a garment it’s important to practice proper care to keep them from returning. Wash those garments on a gentle cycle and avoid any harsh chemicals that may damage the fibers. When in doubt, take your garments to a trusted cleaner to give them the refresh they need in a way that will keep them looking great for years to come.
